It takes a community to support our Lemons of Love mission. Each year, we welcome individuals and groups to volunteer with us in a variety of ways. This includes hosting product drives, volunteering at our events and utilizing individual talents to support those impacted by cancer. To learn more, email lemonsoflove14@gmail.com.

I love volunteering to drop off care packages whenever I can because a Lemons of Love care package was the first thing I received at the hospital. I never expected anything like that. I could not believe there was a group or people that literally volunteered their time to make these support services available to me and all cancer survivors/patients and thrivers.

The fifth graders at Fairview and Lions Park schools in Mt. Prospect volunteered for Lemons of Love. We chose Lemons of Love for many reasons. It is a local charity with a cute little building in the heart of our town. We wanted to show these kids that they can help people and also have fun doing it. Simple things can bring such joy to other people, especially to cancer patients who are going through a difficult time.
We put a Happy Picture in every care package we make, so we need these pictures all year long. We welcome kids of all ages to draw colorful pictures with happy, upbeat images on them—no words are necessary. Children can sign the back of their picture with their first name and age. To learn more, please contact cathy@lemonsoflove.org.
Tweens and teens can help us create encouraging cards for our care packages. These cards feature a lighthearted pun like “Ewe Can Do It!” or “You’re Turtle-y Awesome” and have a simple picture to go with it. To learn more, please contact cathy@lemonsoflove.org.
During November and December, we partner with PetSmart and AutoNation to share care packages with sick children, and their siblings, in Chicago-area hospitals. This program is our largest volunteer effort each year. People can donate items or sign up to fill bags and deliver them to hospital personnel. Past volunteers include individuals, service organizations, Scouts, extended families and kids needing service hours. To learn more, please contact cathy@lemonsoflove.org.

Thank you for doing these packages!!!! Receiving them so unexpectedly made SUCH a happy impression and I found it to be fiercely encouraging! I felt less invisible and alone in my day-to-day during my own treatment. And THAT is priceless especially during such an otherwise dark time.
